Is a day filled with being outdoors, collecting seeds, potting plants and planting out trees your idea of fun? Do you love to garden and have a knack for learning different types of plants as well as the types of environment they’ll grow in? Do you want to gain practical experience in botanical work while also learning about conservation management and helping to make the world a better place? If so this could be a perfect position for you!
Brief Overview: The plant conservationist role is a vital contributor to Echo’s Habitat Restoration Program. This role would involve everything to do with the propagation of rare native plants from of venturing out into the dry-forest collecting seeds through to planting saplings in herbivore exclusion areas. Key duties will include:
• Day-to-day management of the native plant nursery
• Collection of seeds, seedlings and possibly cuttings from target native trees
• Propagation of collected specimens
• Record keeping on collections and propagation outcomes
• Record keeping on replanting and sale of plants grown in the nursery
Accommodation is provided for all Echo volunteers at our Dos Pos conservation center. This is a field camp in a remote location please make sure the conditions work for you.

Requirements: A minimum commitment of 1 month is required, with the opportunity to extend. Preference will be given to applicants willing to commit to a longer period and to those who can demonstrate skills and experience in this field.
Volunteers must to travel independently to Bonaire and must have travel insurance.
